You avoid counseling or talking to a therapist because you feel like you’re a burden, like your problems are small compared to things other people are dealing with. Maybe you have friends and family who can’t quite understand what you’re going through. Maybe the world around you has made you feel like you should just be able to pull it together and get through this on your own. You’re clenching your fists, you’re trying everything you can think of to feel better, and it’s just not working -- and you’re exhausted. You can’t shake it.

It’s just not working. Everyone around you seems like they’re doing just fine, but the mask you’re using to act like you are, too, is starting to crack. It seems like the only thing that occupies your mind is this unwanted and undesirable feeling. As a way to cope with these unwanted feelings, you notice that you are drinking more than before, are isolating from loved ones, not feeling a desire to connect to others, and are having difficulty concentrating. Your day is revolving around coping with stress, anxiety, addiction, depression, or trauma, and you have come to the point where you are so tired of fighting it every day that you want help in navigating a healthier and better lifestyle. You know something has to change so that you can feel better and live better, but you don’t know where to start.
I HAVE REALLY GOOD NEWS: I CAN HELP YOU.
My goal as your therapist is to assist you in navigating through life’s hoops with individual counseling. I will help you find healthy, effective ways to cope with whatever stressors -- large or small -- you may have in your life with the ultimate goal of helping you feel like you can not only breathe again, but thrive again.
But my job isn’t to fix you.
What I CAN do is help you identify the thing in your life that’s causing you to struggle. If you need someone to help you see that it’s not only okay to struggle, but also that you have what it takes to conquer it, and that you are worth the work it’s going to take for us to figure that out together. I may not be able to help you solve every single problem, but maybe I can be the first person in your life who’s really listened to you, and fully accepted you, and is genuinely there for you. I won’t give up on you, and I’m ready to help you do this work. I’m going to do what it takes to let you be authentic, let you be in your skin, and accept you where you are, for who you are.
